Gig Images: Do's and Don'ts

Images are one of the most crucial factors that will determine whether or not buyers will want to click on your Gig and order your service. The following article should give you the very basic guidelines that will help you shine and fit the quality standards of Fiverr. Please be aware that not following these guidelines can not only push buyers away from your business but also prevent you from being manually promoted by Fiverr across the site.

When using images, please consider the following:

Image: Quality

Don’t use pixelated images. Pixelated images are often low-quality, and potential buyers may believe this means you offer a low-quality Gig. Use high-res images for the best results.

Copyrights

Don’t use stock images or other people’s work if you don’t have usage rights. Not only could you be prosecuted, but it’s just uncool.

Clickbait

Don’t use clickbait. Using images for the sake of clicks can cause frustration and may even put your Gig at risk with Fiverr’s integrity team and lower your ranking.

Text

Don’t use too much text on an image. Keep the space clean so your primary message will pop. If you must use a lot of text, just make sure it’s legible.

Density

Don’t overcrowd with images, either.

Proportions

Use the right image proportions. Don’t stretch, rotate, or use images that are too small. The recommended image size is at least 690 x 426px.

Uniqueness

If you own more than a single Gig, be sure to choose a different image for each one. This will ensure buyers can find what they need.

Relevancy

Make sure your Gig image is related to the service you are offering. Irrelevant images not only compromise your Gig’s credibility but also lower its chances of getting promoted in editorial features.

Videos allow you to personally explain your service in a creative way. It’s important for buyers to be able to see a sample of your work so they can see your level of professionalism and better understand what you are offering. Your video should be high quality and original. When uploading a video to your Gig, only use images and content created or fully owned by you. Do not use copyright images; otherwise, your Gig will be removed.

If your Gig was placed in the Video & Animation category, you are required to upload a video. While it’s not required for other categories, Fiverr recommends uploading a video with audio. This influences potential customers and motivates them to purchase your services.

How to Upload a Video

  • In the “Gig Gallery” area, you can add a video to your Gig by dragging and dropping a video or browsing for the file in your computer. Please choose a video no longer than 75 seconds and less than 50 MB. The allowed file formats are mp4 and avi.

Note: When a buyer searches for gigs in the marketplace, your uploaded video will appear as the Gig cover image.

Adjusting a Gig Video Preview (Thumbnail):

  1. While in Gig Edit mode, click Gallery.
  2. In the Gig Video section, click Edit.
  3. Click Play, pause the video on the desired frame, and then click Set as preview.
  4. Click Close.

Note: If you wish to adjust your video thumbnail, your video must be approved first.

Do's

  • Your video should be concise and related to the service you offer. Please keep in mind videos should not exceed 75 seconds.
  • If you are offering a service in a different language, you should write your Gig details in that language in addition to English. Your video may be in the other language you are offering and should be relevant to your service.
  • Make sure your video is clear with no background noises. To ensure crisp audio/video quality, position your microphone properly and use professional audio equipment to record your video.
  • We recommend your video contains your own voice instead of using a computerized narration. If you use a computerized narration, make sure it is high quality and close to your original voice.

Don'ts

  • Do not use the same video in all of your Gigs- keep each video customized to your specific Gig and the specific service you are providing.
  • Do not include personal contact information or URLs in your videos. However, if you are using a sample from your portfolio, it may include your previous client’s information if they gave you explicit permission to do so.
  • Do not use a Fiverr seller badge or rating stars in your video or any other Gig details. Seller metrics are not permanent and may change on a monthly basis.

Video & Animation Category

  • Videos should not contain copyrighted audio or a watermark that is not your own.
  • You may not use another seller to create your Gig video on your behalf. If you provide services as a video animator or creator, it is important to upload samples of your own work to showcase your talent.

Note: This does not apply to non-Video & Animation categories.

Chapter 4: Converting Customers & Managing Orders

Communication

  • Make sure you answer each buyer who contacts you.
    - Please respond as quickly as you can to each buyer who sends you a message.
    - When receiving an order, we recommend communicating with your buyer to acknowledge you understand their needs.
    - Answer politely and in a respectful manner.
  • Communicate in the languages you defined when setting up your seller profile.
  • Keep all communications within Fiverr. This is the only way Fiverr can protect you and your rights.
  • Do not provide your personal information, such as your email, or use any other communication tools.
  • Fiverr won’t tolerate abusive behavior, such as bullying or harassing other members.
  • Fiverr encourages you to provide your buyers with “custom offers”, which will cater to the buyer’s specific needs.
  • Do not attempt any credit card fraud, launder money, attempt to drive traffic to other sites or market unrelated products, abuse our referrals system, or make false claims against other members of the community.

Using Quick Responses

Within any Inbox, active order, or delivery message, you can create a template response within the message to help you reply faster. For example, if you're a graphic designer and a buyer asks you about which formats you provide, you can create a template response entitled "Graphic Design Formats", and write a message that details all the formats you provide for your Gig.

Using Suggested Quick Responses
Suggested quick responses, which appear in blue, were created to help you answer your buyers’ most common questions in a quick and structured manner. Fiverr provides the predefined text for the most common scenarios. You will be able to edit the text and add your own personal touch to the message before sending it. By responding quickly, you provide better service for your buyers.

To use suggested quick responses:

  1. When responding to a message, click the relevant button.
Just above the message text area, you will see predefined buttons with the most common buyer inquiries.

Note: You can use suggested quick responses from within an inbox message, an order, and when delivering your order.
  2. After selecting a button, you can add or change the text in your message before sending it.

After selecting a button, you can add or change the text in your message before sending it.

To create a new quick response template:

  1. From right above the message area in an Inbox, active order, or delivery message, click Use a Quick Response.

  3. In the Quick response name field, enter the name of your template response.
  4. In the Enter your quick response field, enter the text you would like to save and send to the user.
  5. Click Save.
Your quick response is saved and available for use by clicking the arrow next to Use a Quick Response.

To save or edit a quick response:

  1. After sending a message, you will have an option to save it to your quick responses template. Just click Save as a quick response within the message you just sent.
  2. To edit, duplicate, or delete a quick response, just select the drop-down arrow in the quick response button and make a choice.

Note: You can click Select Gig Packages and pre-populate your offer with an existing Gig package. After the details are entered, you can customize them to cater to the specific buyer.
  5. Describe your offer by including all the necessary details.
  6. Select whether you would like to deliver in one delivery or with Milestones (for orders over $100). For more information, see Working with Milestones.

Note: The Milestones feature is still not available for all sellers and in all categories. Using Milestones helps you manage bigger, more complex projects. Milestones ensure you will receive payment for completed tasks during the project, in turn allowing buyers to establish trust in your services.
If you chose to offer Milestones, you will need to fill in a name for each Milestone (e.g. for Whiteboard & Explainers "Storyboard"), along with the time it will take you to complete this Milestone, and the amount you would like to charge for it. You can have up to three Milestones per project. On the Final Delivery, you will need to submit the full project for delivery (after your last step in the project).
  7. Add the number of revisions you offer and the expiration time for your offer.
  8. If you already received all the required information, you can disable the Ask for Gig Requirements. As a result, once the buyer accepts your Custom Offer, the order will start automatically.
  9. Define the offer scope by selecting criteria relevant to your Gig.
  10. Click Submit Offer.

Limiting Orders in Queue

If you are very busy or cannot handle a large number of orders, you can set a limit on the orders you can receive. This allows you to properly handle orders while continuing to provide great service.

To limit the number of orders in your queue:

  1. After you log in, from the Selling menu, click Gigs.
  2. To set an order limit, click a Gig title.
  3. Click to turn on the LIMIT ORDERS IN QUEUE feature.
Note: Using this feature allows you to control the number of orders you can receive. Once the limit you set is reached, your Gig will temporarily be removed from Fiverr’s search. Disabling this feature returns your Gig to Fiverr’s search (approximately 15 minutes later). Using this feature does not affect your ranking or ratings.
  4. Set the number of orders you can handle.
  5. You have the option to click to turn on Keep direct link active. This allows returning buyers or anyone with a direct link to still purchase your Gig.
